Afternoon.
I have just had the front end knock on my late 2006 (facelift) Sprinter 311CDI
looked at and have been told need to replace both lower ball joints. The garage said it was easier to replace both control arms rather than trying to get the ball joints out. They quoted £800 inc parts. (They quoted £450 a pair of control arms!). Having looked on ebay it looks as though I can get them for around £70 a side but looking at the job I cannot see how the tension can be taken off the leaf spring. I assume there is a special tool. Is there a guide on how to do the job anywhere as it seems to be a common fault with the Sprinter.
Thanks

Those ball joints are a pressed fit.
Unless you have access to a press bottom arm are the way to go.

Control Arm

Thanks, I guessed that would be the case, but any pointers on how to do the job
