HI, My wife and i are looking for a Mercedes Vito or Viano w639 Fsh 2004 on and Low Owner vehicle.

Must be Sub 70k
Must be 8 seater
Must have Rear PDC
Be a Short/Compact
Petrol or Diesel not worried

Ideally Automatic but would consider a Manual for the right vehicle
We have a Max budget of 12k.

Many thanks Gav/merc85

yay does this mean Brutus gets to stay?

Despite it only being 12inchs longer than a "compact" she "da wife" lol insists it's got tobe a Swb compact :( I know I know but its her money.
:( oh well haha

The main drawback with the Compact is that there isn't room for an under-slung spare wheel behind the back axle, so you end up with a glorified puncture repair kit instead. If you get a bad puncture/blowout this will mean coming home on a low loader rather than just changing a wheel.

If you have Parktronic the slight extra length of a Long isn't really an issue (having owned and driven one for 10 years!). Mrs BTB drives it daily ... more than I do now.

PS the Compact has the same wheelbase as the Long, so it's not SWB ;)

Thanks btb, it’s the overhang she’s worried about, I will mention the spare it may sway her lol Do Vito’s have sprung rear suspension and viano Airbag??

Air suspension was an option on the Vito ... think it was standard on the Viano, but not 100% sure.

You are welcome, anything else just shout.

May be worth you reconsidering the age range of your "wish specification" ?
: The early 639 Vitos and Vianos suffered from the same appalling corrosion that had undermined the reputation of their predecessors. They facelifted the ranges & revised the manufacturing process to improve corrosion resistance including a galvanising process. However whilst this improved matters considerably, the turnover of the range had been hit hard by the realisation that the 639 had the same corrosion issues & consequently a large proportion of vehicles registered as late as 2006 were actually manufactured before the improvements.
So it may be wiser to narrow your search to vehicles registered 2006-7 onwards.??
Hth.

Yes I hadn't spotted that - I would avoid 2004-5 vehicles (although rust issues would normally be pretty obvious by now). Galvanised ones will come with paperwork for a 12 year bodywork warranty in with the service booklet & handbook. The front wings of the 639 are plastic btw (until the final facelift before the W447 when they went to steel ones).

My family member has an 06 Viano and it is bubbling up in some places I was honestly really surprised as I thought MB sorted out the rust issue in 2004

Looks like aftermarket rear parking sensors. M-B Parktronic covers front & rear and has displays on the dash, also an on/off switch. This is mine ... pre-facelift but I suspect post-facelift would be the same:

^ Thats really helpful Sir thankyou :)

No problem - the option code for Parktronic was EZ8 btw.

As an aside ... that Traveliner is advertised as a 9-seater but only seems to have 8 seats ;) :D

Just a quick update, Dealer got back tome, It doesnt have sensor's? and only has partial Service history, So we are leaving it. The search continues.

That is a popular misconception I'm afraid clk320x. The main problems are not the visible corrosion bubbling on the bodywork (although it is unsightly & can cause the doors etc to break up eventually) The main issues are the hidden structural components rotting away out of sight.:(

:) It seems that BTB 500 really knows his stuff, doesn't he Mr Merc85.!!

Enjoy your search.
