Afternoon all..I've 3 weeks ago bought another ml. i used to have a 430 V8 but w have no got a 320 with LPG because we wanna hook a caravan to it and go out in the blue but some issues regarding her gear box have come up..

Every time i do a kick down she tells me "check engine" and she sort of limps a bit and seem to loose some power. I then pull over, kill the power, start her up again and shes fine again but still have the check engibe" light on but the following day that will have gone out.

Now if i drive without doing kick downs shes changing amazingly well thru the gears so this has thrown me a bit especially since the bloke i bought her from said he spend £900 on a new gear box.. Don't ring true to me at all...

Anybody got any advise for me before i take it in to a specialist and spend loads of money....

Not really.. it may be that "If" its a new gearbox then its not been set up properly (fingers crossed) but there a couple of options:

Shifter plate?

Speed Sensor?

And where are you located? that'll will help..

I had/have a similar issue. Code reader said "unexpected accelerator travel" or similar. Been told it could be a scratchy potentiometer. Since I have booted it a lot more since first buying it, fault has gone away. Suspect previous owner drove like an old granddad, and never floored it?

You need to read the error code

Neil

If that doesn't work, buy a £30 code reader from eBay / Amazon and see what the fault codes are

Exact same thing happened to me. Suspect it was a lot of short journeys in London. Booted it a few times and problem went away.
