I would thoroughly recommend The MSL Centre and had an amazing day there on Friday 26.03.12 with my family. The MSL centre carried out a remap on my W203, installed a xenon HID kit for my 9006 fog lamps integrated in the front bumper, fitted my LED 501 side lights and rear LED festoon bulbs for the rear number plate PLUS they carried out a repair on the off side door mirror (I had no function for the indicator or was able to adjust the glass). The MSL Centre also supplied the full xenon kit for the fog lamps (something that no other independent MB specialist does unless it is the performance tuner Carlson which I found out from research).

Acid known as BrabusK8 on the Forum is the company owner and they are by far THE BEST independent Mercedes Specialist that I have ever used and my experience with MSL is even better than with any MB Steaelerships that I have used.

Myself, my wife and our new born baby only 4 days old arrived at the MSL centre at lunch time and it was rather hot outside and the air con room was the perfect temperature. Elaine the receptionist greeted us and we then met Acid and they really looked after my family. Elaine kept the coffees coming in and Acid even allowed us to use their private office for my wife to change our baby’s nappies as and when we pleased and they just could not do enough for us. Acid sat down with me and discussed what needed doing – we decided to do the Viezu Power Performance remap, plus decided what colour temperature xenon bulbs I wanted etc. Acid’s team got to work straight away.

Acid and all his family/staff are extremely friendly, knowledgeable and technical and nothing is too much trouble for them AND they are all very HONEST as well and they are not there to over charge or rip people off for any unnecessary work that does not need doing and their labour rates are very reasonably priced indeed plus they warrant and guarantee all their work too. They have even given me a 12 months warranty on my xenon 9006 fog lamp bulbs which no one else will ever provide including Carlson!!! Even though Acid and his family are very successful they are still soo down to earth and have not let their success get to their heads and they are true hardcore MB Enthusiasts. Nothing is a challenge for them and tell them what you want done to your car they will do it all in house themselves. I would say they are like “Custom My Ride” as they are very talented and do serious modifications at MSL as well general servicing/maintenance work.

The MSL Centre have two huge modern work shops at two locations in Birmingham and Acid was kind enough to take me on a tour and out in one of his family members heavily modified W211 E55 AMG and not only was the car incredibly fast but sounded better than a stock E55 AMG. This is a family run business that Acid’s dad started over 20 years ago and the sons are now running things. The Armoury Road branch is absolutely huge and is the biggest out of the two branches. It consists of five floors and has a stunning open top floor on the roof with amazing views of Birmingham. The MSL Centre is also the third largest independent Mercedes Benz breaker in the UK. The breakers yard is also located at Armoury Road.

Ground floor: This consists of the state of the art reception/waiting area for customers whilst their vehicles are worked on and is fully air conditioned – there were very comfortable leather sofas finished in stylish black/red trim, air conditioned room which was just what we needed as was extremely hot outside and kept our baby and ourselves comfortable. The reception waiting area again is very big, there are stunning alloy wheels on display, exhausts, HID xenon kits in the glass cabinets etc. and two plasma wall mounted tv screens. There is a W204 Sport Edition made from actual genuine panels embedded on top of the main front entrance doors and the headlamps and fog lamps all work – Acid uses this model to demonstrate the light colour output of the xenon bulbs from the HID kits.

The big workshop is on this floor too as well – part of the ground floor and all the other floors in the building are used to store several spares/parts which consist of engines, full interiors, body panels, exhausts, alloy wheels etc. they have absolutely everything. I am not joking but this place is something out of the movies like “The Fast and The Furious”. Heavily and seriously modified Mercs tuned by the MSL Centre were constantly rolling in out and parked up inside and outside the workshop. It was really nice of Acid to introduce me to his friends that were popping down in their seriously modified cars all carried out by MSL and showing me their cars.

Previously I have used Olly from PCS a couple of times and he is a nice guy but with all due respect to PCS I did not receive the same level of service that I have from the MSL Centre and also I found that The MSL Centre’s prices are actually more competitive and reasonable in comparison. Again no offence to PCS but on my last visit to them I was advised that in order to repair my off side door mirror (the indicator and glass were not functioning) I would need to get a replacement internal frame – to be fair PCS did say I could purchase a second hand internal frame (this would still have cost well over £100 plus + labour) or I could purchase a new frame for £246 plus VAT plus labour. I did not even ask the MSL Centre to look at my off side door mirror and Acid immediately picked up that there was an issue from the MFD error and actually repaired all the wires and made them secure and protected them with plastic coating and only charged me £20 for this fix!!! It transpired that I did not need a replacement frame at all.

Even though Acid was being inundated with constant calls on his mobile (customers were calling from abroad as MSL distribute parts/wheels word wide) Acid did not lose his concentration or focus on me regardless and had taken time out to give me a guided tour of their huge premises and even allowed me to stay in the work shop if I wanted to. He also had taken time to show me his amazing S211 E55 AMG which sounded absolutely amazing and I have never ever heard any car sound like his does. Its also capable of hitting 200mph and has smashed the record of a W211 E55 AMG which did 180mph – the estate is also heavier body than the saloon!!!

After they had finished working on my car my interior was given a full valet - I told Acid not to bother cleaning the outside - all cars at MSL are always sent off down the road to be valeted afterwards but they did my interior on site as I was pushed for time.

I have taken pics of my visit and will be posting them up shortly.

Nice to see someone else enjoying the customer experience at MSL. Personally I won't go anywhere else, they have done all the work on my car and I've spent many an hour at the workshop.
Nice job, nice people always polite and professional.
Always pleased with the result...

Ditto - I will now never take my cars anywhere else.

What a review :thumb::thumb: Dealt with Acid before and nothing is to much to ask for the chap

Acid supplied some service parts for my car and l found him a very nice chatty guy and was always able to get on the phone or if busy would ring me back quickly.

From what I've read he seems like a decent chap so I was just a click away from buying his 190 16v over the w/e - one car ebay purchase a w/e is enough I feel.

I have been to MSL twice in recent months and would concur that Acid understands how to provide a personal touch in a hectic environment - it's a rare skill.

Hope you done mind me adding...

Great review.

Was at MSL Saturday and my only regret is declining the roof top view! Great welcome, top job, and Acid and the team are true gents. Came away with a big smile, thanks Acid.

PCS are very well respected, and that doesn't come easy, just a bit too far away for me.

Acid, if your reading this, hope yours is good for the weekend. Have never seen the likes :thumb:

Acid

I spent a day with him and some of his family/friends, we all got on so well that by the end of the day I felt like I was family/friend. I now speak to him regularly and just wish he was closer to London.

See you on Saturday mate!

There will be GTG on the open top roof top with a barbecue in the near future….:)

Without coming across as ignorant or rude but MSL and PCS are completely tow different experiences and I will always be going back to MSL - had I taken PCS's advise on the mirror I would have been unnecessarily out of pocket.

U have to be mindful that you cant always diagnose a fault before you get stuck in there. You have to quote the customer the most likely cause.
PCS may well have found the same issue when they got to it and just repaired the fault rather than replace.

MSL are a fantastic outfit though, I remember when I was primary school age, me and my dad used to go there to get bits for our W123...
They have been around a long time and have built the business up. As a complete set up, Id bet they take more revenue than the local dealership.

Cant wait for the BBQ, never been to MSL in its recent form, been meaning to meet acid in person for years.

Had I sourced the part myself I would have been stuck with it or incurred some sort of loss/handling charge - I was told straight to source another frame either used or new to resolve the problem and obviously pay labour to fit or they would source it for me. On ebay I managed to source a brand new OEM frame for £154 and had I comitted to it I would have been stuck with it.

Hopefully, I will get to see u at the babrbie.....:)

Acid is a top bloke

Wow! what a fantastic review - many thanks Flash.

Edit: Ha! Just down the road from Len Vale-Onslow's old place. I know it well!

Perfection is very hard to come by !!

I have dealt with Acid and find him and his Company very efficient and personable.

Maybe i will venture past Marble Arc when he has his Bar-B-Q :)

No one is perfect but PCS were not bothered about fixing the wires at all waht so ever when I had asked them to do so.....

The trouble with repairing the failed wires is that the repairs are often unreliable due to the wires being brittle. I used to repair them but I had so many come back a few months later that I stopped offering the repair.
You can't please everyone all of the time so you just have to set your standards and stick with them.

Olly has allways been bothered.
