Multi Function Display Fault

Hi guys, not sure if anyone owns a Sprinter van on here but hopefully someone can help me out. I recently bought a 2002 208 CDI and a few days later I noticed the multi function display light, (clock/trip meter etc.), was staying on and has been for about 6 days now, this has coincided with the beeping noise starting when I open the drivers door which I'm sure is supposed to happen but wasn't before. Any ideas?

Low battery on the display? I may be wrong but I thought the display uses a Lithium back up to keep time and calender when the engine is off etc.

No low battery indicator or anything else

Well I went into the barn tonight to move the van back a bit and the battery was dead!

Solved - finally sussed out that the rear fog switch had been pushed inside the console and had actually been in the on position and was causing the problem.
