Hi guys not a rant or a name shame scenario that's not my bag but I booked my car into a specialist to get it checked over, they had it for a week, I went to collect and it had been knocked whilst there. Very light damage to the front wing and bumper but still pretty devastated all the same. After a bit of a quibble they agreed to fix, I'm just a tad weary about the quality of the repair work and what if it's not up to my quite high standards? Where do I stand? Just looking to find out if any of you guys have ever had this happen to you?
Thanks

I would be absolutely furious personally. Demand the painted panel to look like the rest (although refinish paint never does look as good as the original).

Why was there a quibble? Did they say the pixies did it?

If you trusted them to work on your car , can you not trust them to repair it correctly ?

Otherwise , report the matter to your insurer and let them arrange a satisfactory repair , they can then chase the specialist , who had a duty of care over your car , for recovery .

Why did they quibble? It was in their care and got damaged, so their responsibility to fix. If they didn't cause the damage, they or their insurers will chase those who did.

Personally, I wouldn't use them again if they quibbled over their responsibilities...

I was nearly sick that's how upset I was, the car never leaves my site it's purely for driving, the only time I get out of it is to fill it up with petrol. At first they said it wasn't done on there premises which is what set me off as I'm a straight talker. Then I was pointed to a sign on the workshop quoting the no liability b.s which also didn't help. Then they agreed to get it taken to a body shop at there cost which is fair as sometimes these things do happen. I'm hoping to get it back soon so I will assess it then. Basically I'm just freaking out that it's going to be an egg shelled over sprayed pile of mess. I guess I'll have to wait.. I just hope it's good

No cctv which is crazy for 2016 and also there was no vehicle damage check sheet either. All should be common practice to be honest. I worked for a car hire company 15 odd years ago and it was done then. We used to inspect the cars for damage before they left and when they arrived back. Simple but affective

'No liability' signs are meaningless, they have a duty of care whilst the car with them. They have insurance for this very thing, or they should....

I would be fuming with a response like that from them. Was the garage in Cambridge?

Not aimed at you Martin but I'm not too surprised by their reaction, you'd be amazed how many people try stuff on to try and get work for free.

Totally agree with you lee, it's always going to be that way unfortunately

That's why I got so pee'd off dude as I would never do that, everyone has to earn a crust and I'm happy to pay out whenever I need to

There's the rub though; garages become so thick-skinned to people trying it on that their first reply is always going to be a rebuke. If you've got an otherwise great relationship with the garage I'd be reluctant to give that up this easy.

Speaking from experience, it may cost you more in the long run because of how much time/money/effort you may have to put in to find another garage like them.

Get a grip of yourself man.

Same response from my wife haha. Yeah it's one of those things that can be fixed, I was proper gutted though. Have wanted one ever since I was a kid so I'm a tad over protective of it
