Hi guys, recently purchased a 2006 CLS 320cdi - all of a sudden after being parked for a bit I jumped the battery and have had following problems:

centre console sat nav/cd has zero power
abs/ esp light on
steering has gone heavy
car judders in higher revs (read someone the gearbox can be reprogrammed?!)

Are these all linked? Really need help, please advise! Thanks in advance

It may well be you have blown a Sam,if you just got a running car and connected jump leads to the battery of your car then that is very likely, there is a set way to jump a Mercedes, suggest you get it to a Indy.

First obvious port of call would be fuses. You need to locate them-- some in engine compartment ---some in boot ---and possibly some at the end of the dash There may a paper LAYOUT guide behind a small door in the boot liner where you access the rear fuses. The other possibility is that there are a series of fuseable links somewhere in the main positive line from the battery feeding various subsystems one or more may have blown- usually this means replacing the fuseable link unit IIRC.

Not sure about your car but the fuses for the command and satnav may well be behind the centre arm rest in the rear seats, that may well be the easiest to find and check, bad luck the battery going flat, and you being new to Mercedes,we all run scared of low power from the batteries has it throws up all sorts of problems, and as I say think 3 times before you jump start one, best way is with one of those chargers connected properly to the battery.

As suggested could be a Sam unit, think its the Rear Sam in the Boot, The fuse for the centre console is also in there.

ABS/esp could also just need to be re-set, Turn the steering wheel lock to lock and that should do it.

No power to centre console could also be the unit itself, Failing that and the fuse is ok you may want a AUDIO gateway as this is where the whole SATNAV and centre console get there signals from. Its situated within the n/s rear boot to the rear of the Rear wheel arch.

They are roughly £600-700 from Mb, you will need to know if it has Harman Kardon Sound system, as they are different to standard units.
