This is only done on number plate recognition cameras.
Don't they do a check over the radio when the pull people over?
Or have I been watching too many episodes of Roadwars?

And even if you have every thing you should have in order to be on the road, if the computer says ' No ", you may well be walking home.
Obviously failing to produce has gone out of the window with the centralized data base
I did exactly the same thing, but I got a new MOT before i presented my documents. They said that it was the time when stopped that counted but appear to have let me off with a verbal caution as it was three months ago and i have heard no more. Tough luck!
Not so.
Foreign licences are not on the DVLA database (but it may be that the driver is driving legally on one. Also, if your insurance is not on the database but the Cops allow you to continue without seizing your car (eg they accept you have insurance) then you are given a document producer then.
Since the law hasn't changed (has it?) I believe you can drive for a year and a day without possessing a licence so long as you are not disqualified or otherwise prohibited from obtaining one.
But does everyone driving on the roads not need a licence to do so?
Hi Swiss Toni,You asked about an appeal;
If you were en route to get the car tested when you were stopped, you have a defence in law and so would not have commited the offence - clearly this is not what happened in your case and the chances of an MOT station wanting to pervert the course of justice (imprisonable offence) to lie and save you £60 is pretty slim.
Hi Swiss Toni,
I am merely a bloke on t'Internet but please correct me if I'm wrong.
I believe your post is 'half' right but perhaps slightly misleading. I think...... If your MOT has expired you need to have an appointment at the MOT Test station. It is no defence to simply say I'm off to Acme Garage at John O'Groats to get my car MOT'd.
I think the author has been caught out and is letting off steam. (there but for the grace of Noddy, go I) I suppose we could ask how long would it have been before he realised the MOT had expired, if he had not been stopped?
I'm off to check our fleet of vehicles
Regards
John
was pulled over for the way my car looked, saxo vtr (big stupid exhuast etc)
This surely is the best forum ever ... what response do you think we'd have got posting an equivalent message on a Saxo forum?!!

They will be telling you that you TV licence is not valid to drive on the roads next,
My vocabulary is not very good for those forums as I do not know all of the words used.
