not sure what tyres and brakes have got to do with that, as per the comments.
If she shoves it into first and leaves it there it aint gonna roll anywhere.

But that is US where most cars are autos so maybe good parking /foot brake.

Always worth remembering, that if engine stalls in an emergency situation(eg on a level crossing), that the car can be driven(assuming its a manual) by putting the car into 1st gear, letting out the clutch, then starting the engine & using the starter motor to drive the car forward.
Guess it would be ok to use reverse instead.
Obviously should not be used routinely!

Not sure about autos- guess you're stuck?
