Clk 230
Hi all looking for a bit of help please! I have a w208 Clk 230 red top and have got an oil leak that's getting worse from the front of the engine. I have already done the sensor cable on the top but this looks like it is coming from lower down. Initially I thought crank shaft oil seal but a Merc mechanic said in fifteen years he had never had one needed replacing. I have cleaned off but still nor definitive.

There seems to be quite a lot of oil around the alternator but I'm wondering if it's been flicked up by lower pulley.

If it is lower crank seal how easy are they to replace?

Are there any other suggestions.

Thanks keen amateur

Have a look at the timing chain tensioner seal. Dont dismiss the crank pulley seal, tehy do leak.

They do tend to leak oil from the head gasket too.
