Like so many PCGB meets, too many hair dryers and not enough transaxles :D:D. Goodwood was good a couple of weeks ago - about 35 transaxles, half of which were various varieties of 968!

And that means in English!?

Dam I missed this today.

Historically in PCGB there was a certain amount of banter about those of us that drove water cooled cars - the transaxle 924/928/944/968's, and the "purists" reckoned only rear engined air cooled cars were proper Porsches, so they called us kettles, and we called them hair dryers. Then came the Boxster and 996 (and all further 911 variants, plus Cayman, Cayenne etc) all of which are water cooled. It's worse these days - the transaxle brigade are almost ignored in PCGB, it's only the pleasant social gathering at our local region that makes us retain our membership.

I had a 1989 928 with an S4 face-lift for 6 months, loved that car..... It loved petrol.

Never forgotten seeing what I thought was a 968 behind me (visible headlights like a 968) when I had a long straight ahead, floored the 968 coupe - and this thing went past me as if I was standing still - and I realised it was a 928 not a 968! Christ those things are quick!!

Two cars I seriously miss. My 84 944 LUX and my 87 944(951) Turbo. The Lux was old by the time I owned it, actually, both were. But it was fantastic. Not that much power but my god, the handling. Such an utter joy to drive.

The 951 was scary. Chipped and tuned to the hilt with bigger injectors, turbo etc etc and a boost enhancer that brought the turbo in at 2500 instead of the standard 3500. It spat fire on the over run and could spin the tyres in 5th gear at motorway speeds when floored. And yes, it did blow a headgasket. An uprated one was fitted.
I fell out with my mate over that car as it would rip his 964 to bits:D There had always been a bit of rivalry between us as to who had the fastest car. Very childish I know but it was great to finally get the upper hand:D

I was there with my 928.. A good meeting I've never seen so many 968's in one place..

The Goodwood meet started about 4 years ago as a PCGB 968 Register meet, heavily supported by non PCGB 968 owners from the 968uk forum. This was the first year it was a transaxle meet - I think the register secretary realised he could be a bit lonely without 968uk, so opened it up to others, as well as getting a round of the PCGB sprint included in what is actually a Brighton and Hove Motor Club sprint meeting! Good day out if the weather is good - which this year it was (mostly).
