Probably a stupid question - W208 number plate bolts?

In a bid to modernise the outside of my w208 a little, I've bought a pair of plastic, German-style number plate holders.

Some cretin has installed the existing plates using screws, and only in two of the four holes. As a result, I'm assuming I'll need to grab some new bolts to fit my shiny plates and new holders.

This is where my confusion starts. There doesn't seem to be any consensus (including the bloke I spoke to on the phone at MB) what size I need.

Is anyone able to shine any light on this, please?

The standard number plate bolts are Stainless steel M5. With a 0.8 thread pitch/18mm long.

You're an absolute gent. Thank you.

Hi,
There maybe a very good reason why they used screws and only two of them as the bolts can seize and the thread insert turns, fingers crossed this isn't the case with yours.

Well, I'm having a bash at fitting them on Friday, so I'll report back with findings.
I'm hoping they were fitted this way out of laziness, but you never can tell!
