Now it makes sense why my colleagues have put on King Crimson on in the background...

RIP.

I posted a favourite ELP track to the 'what are you listening to'? thread earlier.

I wasn't aware that he was ill, however I was conscious that I have seen the album cover from Brain Salad Surgery a few times online over the last few days.

Question, did Dr John or ELP use the phrase Brain Salad Surgery first?

Hate to quote Wiki. but apparently the album was named after a lyric in Dr John's "Right Place, Wrong Time", which was a single in the same year which was 1973.

Makes me feel old as I have the album somewhere here and remember buying it new.

I'm sad enough to have both albums and had the original tour posters for both on my bedroom wall in the 70's.

I'm sure that I once had a Dr John 'Such a Night' lyric on my signature here at one time.

I Believe in Father Christmas. Arguably the finest contemporary Christmas song ever and a great personal favourite. Written as a protest against the blatant commercialisation of the festive period and the destruction of its true spirit, even back in the 70s! RIP.

It was played in the pub last night. I didn't realise that Greg Lake was the Lake from E, L & P.

I told a young person that Greg Lake of Emerson, Lake and Palmer had died..."accountants?" he asked.!!!

My father played double bass on the original commercial recording.
Every Christmas it reminds me of him saying "another sixpence in the royalty box".
Fabulous sound even to this day it has not been equalled.
