r129 bit of the exhaust fell off :-)

Last night my neighbours were laughing when I parked up because of the scrapping noise, they said I had some sparks coming from underneath the car

Anyway I checked and a bit of the centre exhaust box had broken off and was attached by a small strip of metal, I removed it and took a picture of what is left underneath (attached)

does this warrant a full centre box replacement or is it just part of the outer protection?

At some point you'll be replacing it.

If it's not leaking it'll pass MOT's.

...it's simply the outer casing...the exhaust could go on for years...they generally fail at the joints...would not worry about it...my sl320s exhaust looks a little,shall we say , tired but is solid and mot worthy....
