Hi,

I kerbed the merc and ran it over a bell bollard :(

The rear wheel is now more in at the top and looks like this

What might I have broken?

Help appreciated.

Tom

Is it definitely different to how it was before - how does it compare to the other side?

Hi,
From the pic it looks like its bent one of the suspension arms.

Camber arm is quite badly bent, good news is that they are cheap but the bad news is that it looks quite corroded and the fixing points may be damaged too.

Also there may be more than one arm bent. You can purchase all of the rear suspension arms new, either aftermarket or genuine so it isn't as bad as it might have been.

How are the rims...??

rims are fine. would i replace one side or both? what do you rekon it would be for all the parts for one side?

I'm not in the UK so I don't know what suppliers you have access to but ask around all the usual Benz part suppliers for prices - there are five links per side. Somebody else may be able to recommend a decent non Benz manufacturer - unfortunately I am not sure what is good and bad these days because I've only got Benz parts on my car.....

Update: Guy at the garage says that its a camber arm and a link arm and they can be replaced and the wheels realigned. Phew. Waiting on quote now but will post once received so others can see the cost of this getting done.

£600 all in Camber arm was bent 90 degrees and plastic link bar was shot. :) Back on the road with the old girl

Clearly I was wrong but that negative camber doesn't look that wrong at all...

Glad you got it resolved anyway.

It's making a bit of a knocking sound now at under 40mph just on the normal road. Especially at lower speed, 0-15 mph. Thoughts??

Best get it into a Merc Specialist, a knock from the rear could be a lot of things - how much corrosion have you at the front [rear subframe] mount points...?
