Car
mercedes e class
can anyone advise me, my alloy weels on my e class want refurbishing
I have had a price of £45 per wheel and they want to keep the car for about 4 days is this about the right price?
And if I had them done how long would they last for.

Price is good. If done by a top company they will probably come back better than when new if they are standard mercedes alloys. How long they last depends on how you look after them. Have had one set done 7 years ago - still like new but they are well cared for!

Have you looked into Rimstock a few members have had great results, there is posts about it and pics

There is also a place in Scunthorpe- Wheel Doctor. £50 and turnsaround in a full day. Did a good job on ours.

So you can have them painted or powder coated which is better

Price is good but 4 days:eek:,have you searched some of the mobile alloy refurbishers?(might be a little more expensive but they come to you & will do same day).As has been mentioned, you must look after/keep your alloys clean(i do mine every week)otherwise they will deteriate quickly after refurbishing(especially in the winter, salt etc).

Had all 5 wheels refurbished last month.

I went to a local tyre stockist who is an agent for Pristine Wheels and ordered refurbished wheels on an exchange basis. Pristine send the wheels to the tyre stockist and will only exchange wheels that are the same style and size as the ones being replaced.

When the tyre stockist received the wheels, I just drove to their workshop and the exchange was done. Time taken, about 30 minutes.

Powder coat every time. Paint - just that - too thin, the "come to your door" guys are fine if you want fast & dirty, but it won't last.

Just had my AMG turbines done here - Leeds alloy wheels - not exactly on your doorstep, but dropp,ed in at 9am picked up at 5pm - absolutely superb job - £310 all in but price varies on size. Several finishes - I had "black chrome" - they look better than the original silver/diamond cut.

I believe with wheel refurb, you tend to get what you pay for. :thumb:

how much did it cost if you dont mind me asking

Had mine done down here on the south coast at a place called The Wheel Specialist. I think it's a national franchise.
They only needed the car for one day. Damned expensive at £86 a wheel but the finish is awesome and it's lasted as good as new for over a year now.

Having all four wheels done at Seafield Coachworks here in Edinburgh for £60 a wheel excluding VAT. Four days sounds as though the job is being sub-contracted out?

Anyone used or had reports on My Alloys in Basingstoke? Web site looks good and prices seem reasonable. Nice and handy for me!

The cost was £58 per wheel for refurbishment, £2.55 per wheel for new valves and £4.95 per wheel for balancing. New Michelin Energy Saver tyres cost £64 each.
