Hi all my bad luck continues with my 1st Mercedes :( I've gone and lost a key on the way back from Holiday I always leave the house keys in the boot and carry the car key on it's own and it fell out of hole in my pocket!
I've tried the lost property at Gatwick and Brighton station but no luck, I have the spare but obviously I'd like to have another key just incase I lose this one!!!!
I've tried that place in Birmingham and they've not replied, Also Mercedes in Brighton but also no reply!
Can anyone do me some sort of key without having to pay £££££££'s for a brand new one of is there no other option?

It's an 06 E 280CDI

Regards
Kev

£160 I think
Mercedes key specialists- Need new Mercedes keys? Replacementmercedeskeys.co.uk

Edit: Just seen you've tried this

They are slow to reply, you need to call the number on there directly during working hours.

There's no other way pretty much. A dealer would want around £230 I believe...

I just used www.replacemykey.com

Dealer quoted me £380 and I had to get the car there.

They did it with a genuine key for £324 and came to me... give them a call or get an instant quote offline like I did.

Thanks CLK & gunning, I will try again with the Brummy company

Just did a quote for our e320 cdi 2007

£246 and they will come to you.

Sorry I should I mentioned that was a price for my landrover Disco 4...

Ah, that explains it. I know inflation in on the rise but that was a bit high for MB.
Main thing is you can get a key without main dealer and associated costs.

Shorts we slung in the bin as soon as I got in!! stupid thing is I was going to change into slacks at the Airport ! so pissed off
Anyway been quoted £204 all inc , just waiting to see it the insurance pay out .
Thanks all

I bought mine from main MB dealership a couple of years ago for £220. Didn't fancy using an independent since they need to read and decode your EZS to get the hashcode.

1. In most cases they will physically remove the EZS to desolder the flash memory.
2. Once the hashcode has been decoded they can make additional keys (up to 10 different keys).

Also RAC key insurance is only £29.99 add-on and can cover the whole family (if you have family breakdown cover).

My sorry experience (I already posted this) Mercedes Southend all I needed was a replacement key, not able to get the battery out. cost from memory £900 od quid. Of course, I will be using them again.

Outrageous overcharging if you paid £900+ for just one key.
I would have queried that straight away.

Its a case of pay or don't pay, Technicians (Mechanics when I was a lot younger), 2 of them on invoice to test and diagnose, they apparently could find no fault after 1 and half hours with diagnoses equipment, the key had to be sent from Germany, plus more add ons, I know it was just the key needed replacing as I had gone to Merc Aid, Basildon, who was not able to get the battery out, then to Bosch at Rayleigh had words with Paul Manager, he spent 20 mins trying to get the battery out, on to Southend, and eventual new key. Thank you Sir see you again.

Mine was £230 inc programming and disabling the lost key from MB. You have to go in with V5 and proof of identity before they will order it

I still believe you were bent over, even with 1.5hrs diagnosis for a new key. What addons could they charge you with?
You paid over £600 for someone to fail to remove a key battery, and a new key is always sent from Germany for well under £300 already pre programmed.
Too late now but I wouldn't have let that rest with me.
