Mercedes-Benz E Class E320 CDi Avantgarde 5dr Tip Auto 3.2
Hello all :thumb:
I've just bought my first car official car, its class!! Its an
Mercedes-Benz E Class E320 CDi Avantgarde 5dr Tip Auto 3.2 .

I don't know anything about it? Its 2001 so i was under no illusion when i bought it, but saying that it it seems to be in good shape.

I reckon that with some TLC it could be a good reliable runner.
I think i need an owners guide an a haynes manual to help me figure it out, i've no clue as to half the buttons inside haha, it took me 10 minutes to figure out that the diesel filling plate was push and not button or key operated, i'm feeling like a right donut with this car.

sooo, any tips on servicing, cheap parts or hints an tips about the car would be very appreciated!!!!

many thanks

Greg

Eurocarparts is a good source for most parts but it's always worth calling the dealer first as they can sometimes surprise you with good prices.

There is lots of experience with this particular model on this forum so use the search function liberally.

Welcome to the forum Greg:thumb:

You have got yourself a W210 E Class and apart from rust issues on some cars, a very capable machine.

First thing to do is find yourself an indy (Mercedes specialist) so any problems you don't have to pay inflated main dealer charges. Indy's are generally half the price per hour of a main dealer. If you post up your location someone hopefully can recommend a suitable indy to you.

Spare parts can be bought from both main dealer and Euro Car Parts online. Check prices beforehand as the dealer is often competitive. ECP usually have a sale on, but there is also a forum code (MBCLUB25 or MBCLUB30) which gives an additional 25 -30% discount on prices.

Regarding a service book, I think I have a spare copy from my old E280 pre facelift but many of the functions are the same. Let me know if its of any use to you and I can post it off to you.

Servicing

Hi all ,

Thanks for the great advice!! I'm not sure what an indy is? haha, i'm a noob!
I'm assuming its a garage of some sorts.

I haven't yet dared to look underneath as of yet, but the wheel arches look ok and inside the doors, outside seems ok.

I've checked the eurocarparts and the site seems pretty good as for my local mercedes dealership i haven't found that one out yet.

I live in Rugby , warwickshire. Hopefully there is an indy close by :thumb:

Thank you very much commodore 64!!! that is very kind of you , i would really appreciate that!!

You have a choice of two good inde(pendandant Mercedes specialists) in Warwickshire. Jay at Mercland in Nuneaton
Home - Mercland
and Acid at MSL Performance in Birmingham.
MSL Performance | Mercedes tuning specialists, and parts in Birmingham.
Both are well recommended guys to look after your car.

I'll look out the book and send it this weekend Greg.

Jay is just off J3 on the M6 so not far, and Acid isn't too far off either

The car sounds good if it has minimal rust, the engines do seem to go on for a long time, just keep them maintained.

Lift the cover off at some point and make sure there is no black deposits near the injectors (common fault but can be rectified fairly easily)

Murray Road...you have a new takeaway open on the corner don't you?

Try carparts4less, same as Euro Car Parts but much cheaper. I source my own parts and have a mobile mechanic to fit them. Big service due this summer, expecting total cost to be around £200.

Bad news on the user manual Greg. My missus informed me that as the car has been long gone she disposed of the manual a while ago:doh:

I wish she had told me before doing that. Not a happy man right now.:wallbash: Very sorry!

e-bay should find what you need.

car servicing

Thanks all for the great advice!! sorry for the later reply i've been getting used to my land barge with wheels haha.

No worries about the manual commodore i'll get one sorted! I found an owners manual in the car , i really am a donut some times. :thumb:

I'll get a service manual of ebay or something, i'm happy enough for now that i know what all the buttons do.

Me an my dad are gonna give it a good going over , an see what going on.

One prob i've had, it seems to beep at me when i go over 60, yellow abs lights flash at me an it says it need servicing. so i gotta figure that out, hopefully with a garage, we'll see.

There is a new takeaway shop opened at the bottom of my road, an indian i think!! yummy

later guys
