Should I buy?

I have been offered a 2002 W220 S320 CDI with 47k miles for £700. It
was last MOTed in 2012 and has been parked in a barn for the last 4 years
the suspension has a leak as the car goes down 5mins after the compressor
has been turned off every thing else looks to be ok. I just don't want to be
fixing something every month. Your views would be well come.

I think you have already answered your own question.

My perception of the early W220 is they are an eye opener when it comes to reliability.

I've never owned one mind and like with everything, I'm sure there are good examples which are reliable.

However, I personally would not take on a 15 year old one costing £700 unless it was in good working order to start with - at least then you have a hope of it being a moderately successful timebomb car!

I'd be wary, it could be a real money pit.
But I suppose if it ended up being rubbish you could always break it for spares to try get your money back.
I don't think I'd buy it to be honest .

There aren't many things as expensive as a cheap S Class.
