Hi guys!
redface.gif

Set off for work on Saturday morning in my SLK(230K YEAR 1999 T-REG) got half way and the exterior bulb lamp came on and smoke started pouring from the heater vents.

I obviously stopped straight away, hazards on(working fine). Opened up both windows and turned off the stereo and heater then turned the engine off.

Luckily I wasn't too far from home so drove home like that(whilst being poisoned from the smoke

) My BAS ASR lamp came on and my indicators are no longer working.....Engine starts up fine so pressumed its an electrical fault......

Rang my local merc specialist and he told me to not go anywhere near the car and to disconnect the battery and that I would need to get it towed to a garage

Another specialist said it could be a minor thing OR could be a job of £500+ and that it wouldnt be worth keeping it as it is an oldie.

Anyone experienced this? Or anyone have any advice? :dk:

Thanks,
Jade

Eeek.

Pretty impossible to diagnose without seeing the car, but does sound electrical and probably £££

Really don't drive it any further, get it towed to your specialist

My thoughts exactly, Eeek!

I am now expecting the worst when it comes to £££.

I absolutely love the car and want to keep it going.

Batteries been disconnected so not going anywhere, definately getting it towed! The specialist closests too me is booked up for a week and a half. It's all a big annoying waiting game.

While waiting, and if bored, you could probably look for the evidence of a fried loom around where the heater draws air in?
Might look cheaper if only a small loom?
