Essentially the rear suspension on the estate [hydraulic pump + hydraulic rams + gas filled spheres] has a self levelling function. There is a version of the suspension set up that also has adaptive damping-- this has adjustable valved shocks at the front and some form of valving on the self levelling hydraulic ram plus spheres setup at the rear. This was essentailly hydraulic controlled. [ doubt if this so called "adaptive damping with skyhook" was ever available in the UK but others may know different ???] This should not be confused with " airmatic" suspension on later models which used an air compressor+ pneumatic struts all round.

It was available...one of our members has it...can't remember name.
