Just purchased a koolertron 8.5-watt 12v solar panel battery charger from Amazon.
I already have a Ctek for home use but purchased one of these for the times when a suitable power source might not be available.
For example leaving your car at an airport car park for 2 or 3 weeks.
Ok a good battery should probably cope, but why take the gamble.
If your Merc gets limited use or is parked up for long periods this seems the perfect solution.
Cost was just under £40-00 and it has over charging and back feed protection circuits built in.
Its quite a decent charging output at 8.5 watts especially during those short overcast winter days.
Just thought I would share the idea with you guys.

The usual issue is how you hook it up to the battery, from the interior of the car?

Not a problem, batteries in the boot, and there's a panel behind the passengers armrest on the S class. Solar unit can rest on the parcel shelf.
