Hello
I recently had to change a faulty SRS module on 2006 CLK. The old module died.
I have now fitted a second hand module. It is still showing an error but at least the other functions controlled by the module now work.
As I understand, the error is a result of the module not being programmed with the correct vin number.
I have read in other threads how with Star software in something called "development mode" the vin can be re-written.
I have spoken to two local specialists and they seem to have no idea what I am talking about.
Two questions:
1. Does what I say makes sense?
2. Does anyone know someone who can carry this out?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks

I think what you are referring to is a unit being coded to work in another car. Vin numbers are never re written??

If you have fitted a new SRS module and it now works, but shows a fault, you need to have the fault erased and your problems should be fixed. This is quite common with SRS faults being fixed but the fault code not cleared and the owner thinking the fault remains.

Take the car to one of your specialists and ask them to clear all the fault codes.

Thanks for the reply.
As I understand SRS modules are coded to the car, they contain information the VIN number. This then produces an error code.
There are several post about unlocking the SRS module in DAS Star and changing the VIN. I need someone to point me in the right direction.
Cheers
