start problem with my A Class

Its not an engine out job if it goes to plan. 4 hours is the labour time so 4 hours is what I charge unless somthing goes wrong and the starter bolts are seized (that can happen)

Shouldn't it be easier on a B class as its bigger?
Any advice I could give as the difference between 4 and 10 hours is huge.

You are talking about a B-class. I thought you were talking about an A class 168.

Ok, I have just looked it up.

The B-class labour time is 3.1 hours for starter motor. The A-class is 4.0 hours.

These are the official times quoted by MB on their ASRA system.

So it looks like your B-class is only 3.1 hours. However..... I have just looked at the working instructions and it does say that you have to remove the engine and gearbox to replace the starter on your B200T. Hence the 10 hours. There maybe a mistake on the ASRA system that does give the extra time for R&I of the engine.

But the last one we did on a B-class took 3.1 hours and we did not remove the engine, just lowered it a bit.

Clear as mud.

Sorry I am a bit confused and apologies, I meant B class. 3.1 hours but 10 on mine because of R&I? What is R&I?
What could there be a mistake on? The 10 hour time?

Much appreciated by the way as I dont want a garage charging me for 10 hours if they should be able to do it in 3.1
