Guys,

Had the ECU on my W202 checked today for stored codes, there was several there but all cleared and didn't return, except:

BAS
code C1025-003 ''Fault in CAN communication with control unit N47-7 (ABS module). If no customer complaint exists, the fault can be erased.

code B1040 ''Fault in CAN communication with control unit MR engine control.''
code B1041 ''Fault in CAN communication with control unit Traction systems.''
code B1042 ''Fault in CAN communication with control unit BAS brake assist.''

What's strange is I've no problems with the car, ABS is working and so is the Traction control (ASR), no warning lights showing either.

Would I be correct in thinking the BAS is not actually working and that's all? If so, is there anyway I can definitively check the BAS operation while driving?

Cheers in advance.

When they tried to clear the faults were they just deleted all at once

I have found that sometimes you have to go in to the actual ecu then into the fault code section then delete it that way.

A good question, Andy. I don't honestly know. I was told they deleted multiple codes (car hasn't seen an M-B garage or M-B specialist in many years) and the above codes were the only one's to reappear.

Is there anyway of checking to see if the BAS is actually working? As, I'm presuming these codes are all related to the Brake Assist?

Andy is right. They will need to go individually into the systems to erase and then re scan.

It can be chacked on the star machine using actual values.

But if you have no warning lights i wouldnt worry too much as if it has a fault the dash would light up.

Was the garage you took it to a mercedes specialist.

Yes, a Merc specialist equipped with Star. Nice guys to deal with but I don't know them from Adam, so really couldn't say how proficient they are.

Andy, thanks for your input.

Not a problem. Thats what we are here for.

If you have any more problems just give us a shout.

It was around then that Mercedes decided to fit BAS to the whole model range.

Perhaps your car did not have it at that timeline.

Ah, I see where you are coming from when you asked the year. No, the car has BAS alright. Cheers anyway.
What I'll do is on returning to London, I'll take the car back with me & book it in to another specialist and see what they come up with. It's not really an issue especially after Andy's comments but it's just nagging me a bit, it's an old bus but everything else is spot on including the new S/charger pulley :bannana:

Ok cool not too far from me. I would be willing to stick it on the star machine for you.

Thanks Andy that will be great. I'll make an appointment when the time comes as there's one or two other jobs that need doing.
