Prior to searching for info on the best way to lubricate my R500's sunroof, I would have used any old grease I'd got lying around in the garage. After Googling, and spending a while reading up on the subject, I'm glad I didn't use any old rubbish!

The Mercedes-approved stuff only seems to come in big tubs, presumably meant for workshops rather than the home-maintainer. Some owners in the States have actually bought the big tubs and then re-sold more sensible amounts to club/forum members, but I couldn't find anyone in the UK doing it.

Anyway, I dropped on these two products -

TASC SP1 Sunroof Soft top Lubrication Grease Webasto Britax Golde Inalfa NEW | eBay

TASC SP2 Sunroof Soft top Lubrication oil Webasto Britax Golde Inalfa BRAND NEW | eBay

One's the grease for the runners, the other's the oil meant to go down the cables. Very handy to have, and no worries about clogging up anything with that multi-purpose axle-grease you might have otherwise made do with! :D
