So I made a led flash code reader for the grandfather's e200. And here is what it brought up.
Pin6- 2,3,8 'SRS'
Pin10-8,13, roadsters soft top( not correct dosent add up)
Pin12- staying on constant?? ( infrared remote) is faulty

Only thing is the document that I'm reading off says that pin 10 is for soft top roof and this is a sedan! Has anyone got the correct document for the full list of codes on each control unit.
I did try pin 8 which I believe to be the injection system but later found out there is a whole sequence to activating it for reading any stored codes.

Have attached the doc I'm reading off, page 11 shows what pins do what.

I assume you want to read the engine fault codes?

Earth is pin 1, live is pin 16, read the codes from pin 8.

Hold the button on the reader down for 3 seconds, then release it and wait for the code. Repeat for the next code, or hold the button for 8 seconds to delete that code.

You'll need to note each code down on paper, then delete them all and see which get triggered again. Post up your findings.

I did try pin 8 yesterday and it only blinked the once!
but then I found this document linked, on the end of page 4 and start of page 5 describes how you should read engine codes from an ez-l injection system using pin 8, my question on pin 8 is this procedure really necessary to activate a code read?
also I still have not found a document that I'm sure corresponds with the other pins?

Your car doesn't use the ezl system, so 1 blink from pin 8 means no stored engine codes.

What problems are you having with the car?

What system is in the car?
It was having cold start and idle problems in the colder weather. I checked all vac lines and they are ok.
The 4pin coolant temp sensor is out of spec I think readings are almost 2k apart.
Can't find anything to say what spec should be on the CTS.

really I'm just trying to understand how the system works.
do you know what pins 6, 10 and 12 correspond to?

You should have bosch hfm.

Pin 6 is for the srs and air bag systems, pin 10 doesn't apply to your car, pin 12 is for the infrared locking system (if fitted).

That's what I suspected from pin6,12, but why does pin 10 exist on this e200 and why did it pulse out codes?
what does a solid light means as soon as the yellow cable is pluged into 12.
Thanks for the help, it's gratefully appreciated.
