Hi all
I had some new pads and discs fitted to my car about 6/7 months ago now.
Anyways somebody at work pointed out that my disc's are two left hand, ie passenger side.

I'll post a picy up when I get home so you'll know what I mean.

My MOT is due shortly and wondering if it'll pass with having two left hand disc's fitted.

By the way mine are drilled disc's as standard

Oops MB

Cheers

How could he tell?

I'll bet they're grooved and/or drilled and he expects the grooves etc to be facing the same way on each side...they don't.

The vented swirls go the same direction, so on the right side they're "pointing forwards" i.e not blowing air out the edges, but looking like they'd suck air in?

It's almost always like that. I've never had brake discs that were 'sided'.

I'm not winding you lot up

I'll take some photos of his and mine. Disc's that is!

Although I don't see what difference it makes if the drilled swirls go ether way myself.

Unless the guy who's pointing it out is winding me up instead and I'm gullible enough to be fooled by something like this.

I'm going pop out and take a few photo's

A few of us had the same thought on here with drilled discs, they come with holes drilled in the same pattern and are not left/right handed. So the pattern will look into different directions on the left and right.

When I had my MTEC drilled & grooved discs delivered, I looked at the fitting guide (not that I was going to do it myself LOL), and it showed directional positioning.
(the pic is from the MTEC site):

The discs were indeed different for the NS and OS, and were fitted accordingly.

No idea if this is just a gimmick :dk:

Rearrange these words...head nail hits on...

Sorry for any confusion guys didn't mean to wind anyone up haha

Just need a left handed mug so I can do myself a brew

You can get those in those specialist shops for left handed people.

HTH.

Having seen those MTECs, and not paying too much attention to others, I would have not doubted, if someone told me Mercedes OE discs were directional.

Pic here shows them all going the same way...

Of course they are. Mine suck air through when the car is going backwards, to even out the heating/cooling cycle and prevent disc warping. Don't everyone's? :d

And does anyone know what this mean

The cars a nissan 350 coup or something, it's a beast anyway

Yours is normal. What car does your friend have?

The Nissan owns a Pizza company probably.

Some cars e.g. Porsche etc have left and right handed drilled discs, yours aren't sided as already said.

Even the larger AMG drilled brakes are the same on most models I've seen :)

Hi,
C43, 210 E55, and the 208 CLK55 all had left and right hand front discs, not because of the holes or the grooves in the disc, but because of the vanes in the centre of the vented discs.

.........

And does anyone know what this mean
