Under-bonnet sound proofing

There's no factory sound-proof kit for W169, so I am looking at DIY options...

Most of what I see advertised as under-bonnet sound proofing, comes with aluminium foil top layer, e.g. this:

Undoubtedly, that would reflect the heat back, and I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing?

The radiator fan should move the heat in that area .And its a good idea .Would be better if it was in a roll .And not 8x8mm sheets .I need to do this job on my lid .The cover thats on there now is breaking down , and bits falling off in places . Buy i might pick up a proper one from mb ,to do the job myself

Really surprised you can't get it from MB. Only recently bought the under bonnet soundproofing for my 450SE from MB and the car is 43 years old. If you can't get it try Frost restoration they have lots of soundproofing materials.

I have this on the SL and can vouch for it's effectiveness.

Glued with this: which is important because strong sunlight softens 'ordinary' adhesive.

I don't think they ever had a soundproof cover for W169, but I'll double-check again. Will look at Frost Restoration, thanks.
