I went today to a workshop, and there, they told me the 300TD ( 1992 ) didn't fit on the 190 2.5 TD . Only on the 2.3 16v car 'cause it's 6 cm's longer than the 2.5TD. Is it true? or can i fit the 300TD in the 2.5TD chassis?

For the wheels.

I'm confused. I don't know if i better put a 16" wheel or a 17" wheel with the 2.5 TD engine or the 3.0 TD. The Performances with th 17" are going to be more low than with 16" ? or the car takes the 17" wheels good?

Please help me <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Another question. For the 2.5TD and 3.0TD engines. What can i do to get more performance. Turbo pressure and air filter? just that?

I wouldnt think that you would fit the 300D engine in there. Especially if it is the later TD, they are both big engines!!

With some serious modification, to the engine bay and the rad, crossmembers and bonnet he squeezed in a 3.6 from a C36 AMG. This flys, is really quick. HE has had to use half a c-class bonnet and half 190 and grafted it together...looks nice!

but, the 300D shouldnt fit without some modifications.

Which garage did you go to? <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

Oh yeah, i put 16's on the car in most cases, especially diesel, but if you go bigger, it has to be 18's or it dosent look quite right with 17's. <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

I'm from Portugal! <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

I'm talkin' about the early 300TD 6 cilinder 147bhp with no electronics in it!

The Garage officer, told me that only the w201's with the gasoline chassis could have this motor installed, because they were 6cm's longer. but i don't think that's the BIG problem.

Well, what do you think... the mods ... are very hard to do to install this engine?

What different chassis?

Thats a new one on me, and ive been working on W201's for 5 years or so now, and my dad has been working on them for nearly 20years!!! They are identical apart from the diesel has a different crossmember and engine mountings as you would expect.

If it fits the petrol it will fit the diesel chassis, cos they are the same!

I will have a look at work tommorow at the sizes of the engines and see whether or not i think it will go in.

If it dosent go straight in, you will only have minor modifications to do, not huge like the guy with the 3.6 did. <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>
