Hi,

I have just had enough of my local Official Mercedes Dealer.

a) Filthy and Dirty loan cars with no petrol in the tank.

b) Customer service department that never phones you back.

c) Lack of inspection and general supervision on work carried out.

My vote goes to Mercedes-Benz of Harpenden in Hertfordshire!!!!

I've found rawsons in Tonbridge, Kent, to be pretty useless. The guy on the parts desk doesn't give a shit.

The one is crawley is good though.

MB Epsom.

Overfilled oil and couldn't repair electric window fault. Whilst pretending to do the repair the door membrane had been to shreds (this was only uncovered when I called out mobilolife to help with a stuck window and myself and the Mobilo service engineer witneseed the state of the door).

I am never going back there.

My A service is due soon and so I need to find a decent dealer.

Wandsworth MB. Worst ever. Couldnt fix an aircon problem after charging more that 250 pounds, and service staff atitude was dismal (had it fixed at an aircon specialist later. Also rear differntial nut wasnt tightened properly after a B service, and was leaking oil (lucky i discovered this before the differential packed it in, when i took my car to a specialist) Had wheels refurbished there at same time (cost me 200 squids), and soon lacquer began to peel off, and corrosion patches began to appear. They agreed to re do the wheels, but standard is very poor.

Never been back there since that B service. I had my last service (A) done at MB Hampstead (opted for their new express while-you-wait service). Overall impression of how it went was good, started and finished on time (1 hour). Service guy tried to convince me to sell my car to a client mate of his !!!

Mercedes Benz Dartford: Dont get me started but they are useless.....

Loan cars thet are untaxed
Over charging.... then inventing hours (labour) to make up the difference
Changed complete climate control unit @ around £1000, did not cure the fault....turns out that all they needed to do was change the pollen filter under the dash.

Bad attitude: If your car is not in here then another persons will be...and that was from a Director.

The list goes on.........................................

Mercedes Benz Preston

took them 3 months to get the right lock set. No compo and no bloody apology either.

Another vote for Preston here....
Took them 4 months to get a set of mats in for me and then they tried to give me second hand ones that had bneen taken out of a trade in car!!!
Took the car in because I had a lot of rust on my near side rear disc (obviously not coming on correctly) to be told "oh thats fine, the other 3 discs are working really well"
Sales staff have no bloody idea either, telling me that my 240 was a Kompressor????? idiots. Avoid them at all costs!

I've tried Harpenden and Watford and given up on both. Had a big argument with Harpenden and they're probably very glad I'm not going there again. I recently tried Hughes at Beaconsfield. At least the B service was £380 (instead of the £540 that's standard at most Merc owned dealerships). Courtesy car had no petrol (fairly normal). On return the V6 cam cover had white blotches all over it which wouldn't come off. It was either battery acid or brake fluid I think. But they have agreed to put it right. A guy came out and tried to clean it off. No joy, so ordered a new part, came to fit it and it was obviously the wrong part (for a V8). Correct part (I hope) now on order. I know marks on the cam covers is not a major problem but if I'm paying £380 for an oil change and lube I expect a reasonable amount of care to be taken. Still, I haven't written them off. They were very cooperative about replacing the part.

Mainman,

What oil do they put in? Mine is due for service soon and I want to use someone who puts in fully synth, not something like magnatec as some dealers seem to do.

Cheers

I supply 6.5 litres of my own magnitec for about £20

That way they can't overfill our cars like they have done so in the past to the tune of 2 litres plus on 3 occasions at 2 dealerships

I provided Mobil 1 (£25 for 4 litres at Costco). They deducted the cost of their oil from the standard charge (which was more than the cost of the Mobil 1). I was surprised that they didn't return some of the oil from the 8 litres provided, but the bloke said that there were only 200 ml left as the sump takes 7.8 litres. Maybe, when fully empty - which it probably wasn't. Predictably the oil looked a bit over-filled on the dipstick.

maybe the mechanics should go on one of those government schemes to make them " good at numbers" as they obviously can't read ...

Mercedes of Solihull win the "Bend over and take it like a man" award for fleecing.

Example 1: Wanted fully synth, despite their insistence that semi synth "was a far superior oil and recommended by Daimler-Chrysler" (??WTF?). Fair enough, we'll use fully synth. Charged me for 8 1 litre bottles of Castrol RS at a tenner a bottle plus VAT.

Example 2: Managed to put a bottle of washer fluid into an already full bottle and charge for it.

Example 3: Wanted to change rear pads when they changed them the service before ("they're almost at the back plate, sir" "Ah yes, thats all the handbrake turns I'm doing....")

The above notwithstanding, MB Central in Birmingham come a close second for the above, charging a substantial £23.00 (yes, twenty three pounds kids) to change a sidelight bulb. The bulb cost 95p. Strangely I went into their parts department a week later for an indicator bulb and was given two for free. Work THAT one out!! :)

It's very interesting to hear all these stories about poor service from MB main dealers, anyone got any thoughts about MB Brentford, My local dealer. I have used them for very minor stuff and they seem ok, but my first service (A) is going to happen in a few months and want to know if anyone can recommend them, if not any other main dealers in West London.

Thanks

Service shedule States that check washer fluid and top up if nessessary.

I always brim my bottle in the dealers yard to avoid paying for the MB screenwash. For the amount they charge i can get 10 litres of concentrate in costco

My last A service at 10,500 was £79 :D I took my own oil which came to a total of about £20 so an A service for £100 if you can be bothered doing a bit of running about.

MB Chesterfield sevice rip off they didnt even correct trye pressure, and couldnt align headlamps, very im not bothered atitude all the time, (MB DERBY) though so far been excelent.

:) amazing.

Though I think they sometimes might just print off a standard list of Service items from a template file on the computer (and just change the customers name/address/car reg) and when some service technicians don't talk to the service desk or the other way around, the fact that you supplied the oil wasn't taken off your invoice... similarly that would explain the washer fluid too?

MB Brentford are supposed to be MBs center of expertise in London. Prior to MB taking over London, Brentford was and probably still is where MB specialist skills are. They did some warranty work for me, did not complete it, but still fixed it about 6 months later when I found out after some prompting.

Oh dear - I've just moved up from Bedfordshire, and these two are now my locals !!

So do you recommend anywhere else locally - or will I have to take it to Germany / Brabus again to get decent service ?
