280 TE (124K) & 300 TE (178K) & 300 TE (200K) & E300 D (250k), E220 1997 (218k)
Finally found a good one of these and have had it for about 2 months.
250k miles and tight as a ducks ***.

I had always noticed that the temperture gauge on the dash never displayed the temperture. Not a problem I though, will get around to it when I had some time. Noticed that is came on the other day showing +58 degrees. and then it went off again.

It has come on only once more since. I was concerned about the high temperture reading but the rest of the car is fine.

Anyone has any ideas of why it is not displaying and also fo the very high temperture displayed?

Thanks

Hi,
It will the temp. sensor located behind the passenger side of the bumper, you could try cleaning the plug and pins of it, it may fix it, but as a new one is only about a tenner i would,nt worry.
My C class temp display was exactly like you describe yours is, new sensor and all was well.

Without a working sensor it should come on when you turn the ignition on , self check, display -38 and then go off. The sensor is just shy of 50 quid from Mercedes.

Is the OTG standard? That part of my display is blank.
