Hi Everyone, I need some wisdom for my fuel guage on my W124. Reading other posts have shown different faults to mine.
The guage will happily read normal on start up but will often dart to full for a while or hover around three quarters when in actual fact (I think!) iithe guage should read a quarter.

I am tempted to go and buy a new sender unit but could it be the guage and if so how do I check it?

More likely to be the sender though I am not sure how you can tell without changing it.

the diesel sender is probably 'gunged up'.

has chip oil been used ?

why not take it out to have a look - it may clean up.

saloon is easy - don't know about estate.

Once, we ran it on veggie oil just as an experiment- along time ago!
Where is the sender?
