Currently have engine check warning light on and suggestion is clogged DPF, dealer stating the unit is Regenning too often and they want to remove DPF and inspect engine and report back to MB as they haven't seen this before?
Any suggestions on what might be the cause / solution. Also potential cost?
ML 350 - 70K, 61plate.
It was in with DPF fault last month. cleaned and new oil?
Alternatively are there any good independent garages around south Yorkshire that any one can recommend to look at this?

Two questions for you:

What type of driving do you do? Motorway or town?

And how often is too often?

faulty turbo / boost leak may cause lotsa burden to DPF and thus causing frequent regen. Are you sure you are using low ash motor oil? Of course DPF may be so full that regular regen cannot empty DPF enough.

Running wise the weekly mix is half the week 2hrs motorway journeys each day then other half local short trips. Warning light came on the next run after having done a 2hr motorway journey.

The car has been serviced by merc dealers and we've not needed to top up in the meantime.

Regarding too often the dealer hasn't given numbers

The reason why I am asking is because mine is usef primarily as a town runaround (no need to lectures etc) and it will do a regen every 200-250 miles.
