I've just bought one of these and quite like it


What makes it a "esprit" then ?

was this a different trim option etc etc ?

W202s go like this:

Classic - Very basic no electric windows etc (some later ones did)
Classic Selection - Special edition towards the end of the life of the W202,
Esprit - Classic, but with lower Springs and carbon effect dash
Elegance - Chrome trim on bumpers, Wood trim inside, 'Black Chrome' trim around windows, higher comfort suspension, Electric Windows
Sport (The W202s Avantgarde) - Sport Springs & Dampers, White dials & heater controls 'Bucket' style seats, Smaller steering wheel, Carbon fibre trim that actually does look slightly like Carbon fibre unlike the Esprit trim generally the highest spec

+ A few rarer versions such as the DTM sport edition & the Esprit ATP tour edition


All these options arent set in stone though, I know of a 99 Esprit with nearly all the options mine has...

mine does look lower than normal, it doesnt have the "carbon" dash, but does have sportier seats.

It could do with a smaller steering wheel though as its a bit tight getting my legs in and out lol

Yes some pre-facelift models just had grey plastic rather than wood or carbon!

It was nearly completely grey with a small texture.

Facelift Esprits had their own aswell

(Not really Carbon is it!)

did they change some things before others when doing the facelift?
because it has face lift dash buttons but pre face lift bumpers

The square W124 Switchgear (buttons) were used until late 1995-1996 until the changed it to the W210 style 'facelift' smoother style.

Early W202s also had 2x speedo adjuster knobs in the centre of the cluster, this was changed at the same time as the button change to adjuster buttons at the side. & the original heater controls had dials that dont click, square buttons in-between the dials & a separate rear de-mister button located above...

o right so my 230k has the new speedo setup and has the smoother switches
and the triangular hazard setup!
does that make it facelift?

yea lol just a bit! so face lift is:
-bumpers
-side skirts
-lights? can see any differance

that looks nice! wish mine looked that nice!
especially with that grill!

Your doors will be the pre-facelift style though
