The answer is................................it depends!

What year is the car and what model / version of stereo is fitted?

They are forum sponsers and extemely knowledgeable about all the possible options that are available :thumb:

They all had the phone buttons on the steering wheel, even those with no telephone prep whatsoever.

The original option for your car would have been Convenience Telephony, a rather bulky and expensive apparatus that fits in the deep cubby under the front centre armrest.

You will probably be better-off opting for some type of modern (non MB) Bluetooth system, though I doubt you'll find one that integrates with the steering wheel.

Alternatively, COMAND NTG2.5 (which was never available with the w203), can be retrofitted into the car, and as far as I am aware this is the only way to make use of the steering wheel buttons and instrument cluster display with a mobile phone (other than by retrofitting the original MB Convience Telephony kit).

Hello buddy, like the two people above said, message comand , they usually need your vin number which on my cdi is on the windscreen corner, and they can tell you the best way to get Bluetooth phone, the comand 2.5 was around £1800 installed, but on mine which is a 2006 I can install a viseeo mb4 which I can use with my steering controls and is a lot cheaper at about £200.
A good thing to check to , is open your armrest from the side, and see if you have either a phone cradle, or a little connector as if you do you can easily fit the viseeo , the comand website has quite a bit of info about it, but either way good luck :),Dennis .

Thanks for the replies mine has no phone holder or anything in the armrest I was wondering if there was anything I could connect to what is there ?
I have the oe head unit but its the very basic cd player , audio 10 I think.
Car is late 2003 avant-garde

Sounds identical to mine (mine's a 2004), unfortunately I priced it up and decided it wasn't worth it so I bought an ACME F300 A2DP Bluetooth to FM Transmitter and use that. Unfortunately the steering wheel buttons won't work but it gives you a good handsfree kit and media streamer to the Audio 10.

if you find a cost-effective but more elegant solution please post up :)
