W212 - Gearbox Mode Selection

Hi All, 2010 E350 CDi. As you know the gearbox has 3 modes, C, S and M. Comfort, Sport and Manual. The gearbox default seems to be C however I much prefer the S mode. Is there a way to change the default ? other than having to manually select S each time I get in the car ?

Same here. I also much prefer S but, as far as I've been able to ascertain, I don't think there's anything we can do about it. I actually think it's quite patronising of Mercedes to make it default to E mode.

It defaults back to C to meet emission controls apparently.

I've now got into the habit of flicking the switch over to S as soon as I set off. C is not much good for anything on mine really.

What's C mode? Mine just has E, S and M.

Some have E (Economy?), S (Sport) & M (Manual), some have C (Controlled Efficiency), S & M I believe. Basically the same thing in that it pulls away more gently and shifts earlier in E/C.

Mine has C, S, S+ & M, though it's mainly used in either S or M.

My car is Blue Efficiency which might explain my C rather than E ?
