I thought I'd pop the bonnet and check the oil today and was gobsmacked to find my air intake hoses were all split. They were fine about a month ago...weird.

The current hoses I think look and feel too flimsy, the feel of them almost makes you think any moisture that gets on them will travel straight through them.

Is there any aftermarket hose available? Maybe a silicone one that won't kink with the bend? Cheers

I did do a quick search btw but couldn't find much.

Thanks for the replies and the links :thumb:

Yes MSL mapped it earlier this year and decat etc...

They are a poor design, the dry out and become brittle then either implode or separate where they are glued to the plastic section......

Maybe they implode because of the remap? Too much air being sucked in and the pipes are not designed to flow it.

Just updating the thread. I bought some new hoses from MB, not hideously expensive, £60 for the pair.

When I took the right hand side one out, it had unravelled and pulled it all into the air box.

I can keep an eye on the hoses now to see how they cope.

I replaced my air duct hose using Spectre Air duct which can be purchased online or local auto parts store. Part number is 8741.

Do you have parts numbers please? One of mine has a slit.

I think it’s
Left Side Air Inlet Hose A2780902482
right side A2780902582

I have spare but repaired with insulation tape intake hose in the garage Which I kept as a spare, you can have if needed?

Thanks, mine only has a small slit at moment so I can still use it until ive ordered a new one.

Just found this thread after noticing my intake pipes are falling apart - is there an update regarding replacement parts or have the OEM replacements held up ok...??

OEM are fine. Just keep an eye on them and be careful how you remove them when needed.
