been told that the airbag control module on a friend's 2001 s320 needs replacing (srs light on). he cant afford a new one (£500)ish! will a used one do the trick? ie do they need programming etc for his particular car?

    cheers

How did you conclude the issue is at the control unit? There are other more typical reasons for the SRS light.

Officially a used unit cannot be put in (means with the tools an MB workshop is using) but some experts hack used parts to appear like new (like never installed to a car) and then the part can be installed with official tools.
