w220 dead odometer

Hi,

I have looked at a few W220s and a couple have the common dashboard cluster failure. The centre screen us not displaying any text so there is no way to find the mileage. If I took it to someone with Star would they be able to see the mileage on the ccomouter or is it only visable on this central screen? If I were to buy one with the dodgy cluster I plan to try and fix myself but in the meantime it would be good to know what the mileage was.

Hi, and welcome Yes star would read the mileage, but if you have the reference number from the v5, or m.o.t, you could check it on line, to give you an approx figure.

Hiya, many thanks. I had thought about the mot/v5 thing but it depends how long the cluster has been dead. If it has been dead 5 years and the testers have been *guessing* then its not going to help me much.
