What actally is an AMG Performance Center?

Could someone please clarify for me whether this is purely a sales related dealer credential, or if there are any other after sales benefits to owners?

Probably a cross between a hospital and a builders yard, depending on which day you are there. Never been near one and have no intention of changing that status.

It's a special part / corner of the showroom dedicated to showcasing / promoting / selecting real AMG specific vehicles.

In the case of the centre I use at Newbridge Edinburgh, they regularly sell GT coupes / Black series etc and previous to that SLS, and even the really rare SLR roadsters when new. So their workshop is very used to working on AMG vehicles. The service director told me that one of their guys has had specific AMG training, which I think he said happens at Brooklands.

"400 AMG performance centres across the globe.." Now if that number was 40 instead of 400 it might mean something more exclusive.

Just a marketing ploy, like almost every second new Mercedes Benz you see on the road today has an AMG badge on it somewhere , with BMW its an 'M' with VW it's and 'R' and so it goes....

Maybe Mercedes should forget the AMGs and AMGcentre and we can all drive 220d's?!
It must be working and there are AMG master techs that exist so it's more than just marketing.
