I took my 190 into a place in Bolton for 4 wheel alignment after a recommendation. The company is called Nigel Langs Garage and I must admit to being impressed. I'd heard of them before, though only in passing really as they're thought of as a general garage rather than an alignment specialist.

I'd booked it in yesterday so they were expecting it when I arrived this morning and it was straight on the ramp after the mechanic drove it round the block to find out what it was doing. Basically the steering wheel was pointing to the right and the car was pulling to the left. Once on the ramp it was a case of a quick courtesy check to make sure that nothing was worn, tyre pressures were correct and then setting it up on the (Hunter) machine. I was kept informed of the process throughout, with him being pleased that I'd already taken the under tray off and soaked all the bolts in penetrating fluid early on today, though the track rods were still a bit stubborn.

He took his time explaining that certain things affect other things, though a lot of this went whoosh on me unfortunately. He did however get it just about spot on and it's now so much easier to drive without having it "tramlining" down the road as it used to. The only pull it has now is following the road camber which I can live with, especially as most roads don't have too much of this.

All in all, well impressed with the company. Apparently the guy who did my cars knows Wheels In Motion quite well, and I was led to believe that he gets recommendations from them for people in the North.

Total Cost: £72 + VAT, which I was happy to pay.

Disclaimer: I have no connection with the above company, just a happy punter. :)

Cheers bud. I might run mine across as it needs doing and the local tyre centres don’t seem to understand properly do they.
