These are my diamond cut wheels on my CL63. I think they look great.

My diamonds cuts are being refinished and colour changed to dark gunmetal ( my car is Obsidian black )

My wheels were not diamond cut originally, just titanium silver.

They're now "high gloss bright anthracite", powder coated, and I applied GTechniq C5 myself, about a week or so after these were fitted, nine months ago. Still works fine (not a high mileage car though) - a simple rinse takes care of all the brake dust, etc.

The work was done by First Aid Wheels in London, absolutely no complaints, would happily use again.

Nice colour change but imho both suit the car, had some kerb rash on my GLA black diamond cut 20" and had wheel and tyre insurance, and used it once in 3 years, good service, diamond cut wheel and place in Ellesmere Port The Wheel Specialist not far from the Mercedes Dealer... he did a great job and recut the wheel, could not tell the difference.. he did say you can only do this so few times..

I prefer how they looked before, but as long as your happy, that is all that matters :)

I have partially diamond-cut wheels on my Phaeton and when they needed refurbishing just had them completely sprayed.

My understanding is that because the edges of the diamond-cut finish are relatively sharp, the surface tension of the lacquer pulls it back from them which means it's almost inevitable that you'll get water ingress eventually.

Can I ask where you are getting them done?

Ahem! Bit embarrassed to say that I was having them done my a company called 'the Wheel deal' here on the Wirral (Bromborough), but they've 'gone missing'! Luckily I hadn't paid a deposit but by all accounts they've moved or gone bust. Called, left messages, emails returned and messenger messages unanswered. Very strange. The wheel specialists as mentioned and over here Birkenhead powder coatings do the same, so I'm deciding which one to go to

Inchcape at Cheshire Oaks are advertising a diamond cut wheel refurb so I might ask them about this at the MB gathering there in September.

When's the gathering in September?must have missed this....
Oh I found out Birkenhead powder coaters have a lathe to do diamond cut refurbs now and are charging £90 a wheel if you're interested

It's on 9th September - an official MB Club North Wales section event. Probably coincides with an open day there though so may be nothing really to prevent people just turning up. Missed the one there earlier in the year for another section of the OC when the first 6 GTR's in the country turned up.

Interesting info about Birkenhead powder coaters - I doubt whether MB will beat that price. I'm not sure the affected wheel will have to be re cut but it needs looking at closely.

Thanks, might have a wander in- I'm 5 minutes away from there

I've been thinking the exact same on the SL.... keep black or what? I actually like the black look on a black car and was thinking of re-doing the same with a different colour of caliper... will not go to silver...

As has been suggested Anthracite suits black cars, I still think the bronze colour of the wheels on my old track day car pictured a posts back really suit a black sports car.

I had my original 18s done in Anthracite. Looks nice on a silver car....(although these images were taken with the wrong exposure hence the effect)
