OK so I was a bit too slow to avoid a chunk of debris on the motorway. See pic for damage to inside or wheel rim, guess I'll be visiting the wheel repair shop tomorrow but any thoughts, repairable or not?

I don't think I would want that on my car, repaired or otherwise

That will repair no problem at all.
Send it to

Nice guy and does an outstanding job mail order.

Better not take Flackadder's tyre poll with those tyres; you'll upset him...

I'm with Bob, wouldn't want that one back on my car. The cost of repair could be close to the cost of a second hand wheel on eBay (depending on what wheel that is)

I think it'll be fine once repaired, but it's probably best to speak to the repair company as they will be able to give better advice. Regarding second hand wheels - you won't know what happened to it, it may have also been repaired at some point in its life.

That's a very easy fix. I've had worse repaired without any issues. It cost me £20 but that was cash in hand behind the back of the wheel shop's manager.

It should be no more than £40 I would have thought.

Will Report back

Thanks for all the comment folks, if anybody else has comment feel free to chip in.

Taking into the wheel specialist . co.uk this morning to see what they have to say. used them before to refurbish a scuffed wheel, they did a god job.

Looks similar to the damage on my MOMO alloy I had repaired a few years back (maybe not quite as bad). The MOMO was a great looking wheel but almost impossible to get a replacement for.

Cost me £110 and came out perfectly. They did leave the alloy on the inside rim completely bare though (didn't paint or laquer it) which corroded over the years, unseen by me.

If I had the same problem again, I'd repair it again, but this time, check it was painted..

No luck so far

OK so my first port of call said its not their bag, they just do regular refurbs, powder coating and all that.

So looking around for specialist repair but also investigating 2nd hand wheels, any idea what this style of wheel is called? its off a 2008/09 E320 cdi Sport.

Wow.....Maybe distance may be an issue but at any rate he is only going to use someone he is comfortable with!

Tony.

Mail order pickup and delivery no problem, he's done 2 for me and comes recommended so whats the problem?

Aye.

Never heard of those..

And anyways, looks like they leaked a load of air just because of the slightest of dints in the whell rim :)

As an alternative to zenman63's recommendation, Lepsons are another reputable outfit if you want it straightened & refurbed.

A potential issue with buying a second-hand wheel is that you can't be certain that it hasn't been repaired - and it could have been in a worse state than the one you have before it was.

Assuming zenman63's suggestion is
http://www.alloyracingfabrications.com/

Their site is down for maintenance, cant see an email address and no phone number, otherwise would have dropped them an enquiry. I'll try info and sales @alloyracingfabrications.com on the off chance that it works.

Crap tyres fitted by dealer before I purchased, not what I'd have fitted, not what I'll replace with when the time comes.

Tony.

Firstly we don't know where the op lives...he hasn't filled in the details...in any case, mail order is available.

Secondly...how do you get comfortable with someone if you ignore a genuine recommendation from a respected forum member?

Thirdly...
