Thought this was quite funny. They recently did a Honda S2000 and the guy who bought it off them has just sold it for more than what he paid them for it!!! He also mentioned that a lot more was done to the car than was shown.

That show is a joke. There is never any labor charge factored in, so in reality they make a loss on every car they do.

I quite enjoy the show but certainly when you look at the final pictures additional things have been done to the cars that weren't mentioned. Importing/registering/MOTing the US cars isn't mentioned either, and yes the labour (and use of specialist tools e.g. plasma cutter) is 'free'. They do seem to sell the cars cheap considering the work done, so I'm not surprised someone sold one on again for more.

It's all just entertainment my friends just like we have on here sometimes. SL63 brakes , 600psi punches, C63 debates etc.

Don't forget the Golf R REVO remapped.

When Mike Brewer is about to close a deal he always asks the would-be buyer if they are talking cash. I'm waiting for one of them to say no, he's talking sheep, goats and sacks of corn.

I love my Golf, I'm definitely going to lose my license in it but I love it :D
Just sold the edition 30.
So going to wait for the mk7 and have a look.

We are on the Mk7 the facelift comes out in March and there is a clubsport edition of the GTI and R. Driven the GTI Clubsport in Germany, awesome.

Only 16 weeks before I get my new one :bannana::bannana:

The club sport is the one I meant or ed40 I believe.

Or labour when its in the UK.

I think they also don't factoring selling the programme, advertising, renting the premises, buying coffee and internet cost for going to the popular auctions site.

I'ts just for fun.

my brother brought the Mark 1 Golf GTI that they did in the early days of the show. So much of the work done could only be described as bodge jobs.

Its bought not brought.

And the budget was tiny back then. Ed China is no bodger, he is a well educated, very intelligent individual.

There's just about enough "reality" in the show to keep people watching. If they abandon that in favour of "entertainment" viewing figures will plummet. I bet in most motoring shows there's constant production meeting battles between the "motoring geek" faction and the "you've got to keep it entertaining" faction. The successful shows are the ones who consistently successfully negotiate that tightrope. :dk:

A friend of mine bought the red C2 Corvette convertable. On the show they said the respray cost 2k but the invoice was for 10k. They also did a lot more work on the car than shown on the program. I assume that they don't include labour because the show is aimed at the diy enthusiast. However, I don't know anyone that can carry out a professional respray, chroming and retrim in their garage. Then again, it is only an entertainment show to be enjoyed for what it is.
