When did I become old and this become cool

Haha, when I was a lad it was all about jacking the rear end up of yer mk2 escort / Cortina. What's going on now in the modding world is totally beyond me :dk:. Have to admire the creativity if nothing else !.

How many metres do they get out of a set of tyres ?

It's a Japanese thing. I've seen them before but the handling must be appalling. They must enjoy fish-tailing...

I wonder where they got the idea for those brake lights from...

The second Mk I Golf GTI I bought had a ridiculous camber and I had to bin the front tyres; 8mm on the outside, bare wires showing on the inside.

They used to drop the suspension, which is okay if you don't live near speed bumps.
They also used to fit spacers on the end of the hub so the wheels had a wider track.
They also used to fit wider wheels, but that restricted the turning circle.
Then they started to jack up the suspension to create monster vehicles, but that affected the centre of gravity.

Modding a car does give us some funny quirks.

Why would you do that? I see a lot of Polo drivers who have " slammed the car to the deck" and all you see the car jumping up and down on the stiff suspension set up. Must be a joy to sit in.

As for the camber, the Japanese do like this set up, even from the factory. I had a 05 plate Honda Accord and the camber set up on that was to me unbelievable, after 12,000 miles the rear tyres had be worn out completely on the inside where as the outside edge had lots of tread left on them.

At the time I thought there something wrong with my car, until the tyre centre informed me that the model I had was known for doing this.

The moving epitome of style over substance - utterly useless for normal driving on normal roads. Good luck to them if that's what they want, though; it gives (most of) the rest of us something to look down on and laugh at...

That camber setting would explain the weaving about - not my cup of tea at all! Mark you, a decently set up Mk II Escort on fat 'n squidgies looked the dogs.

I don't think that ridiculous camber is cool nor will it ever be so.

Plenty of other adjectives spring to mind, but cool isn't one of them.

I gave up messing with cars like that with a whip aerial on a escort and a pifco exhaust ,never got the bug for messing with a standard car making it look like something else,so I suppose I am very old because those guys in the video are off their collective heads, the cars do not even go in a straight line.
