I'm going to mount a wireless PIR sensor on a tree trunk which is really intended for inside use, rather than outside use. They work file when protected by the soffit so I'm planning to shield it in some way, to protect it from water and other debris falling from above.

The PIR is the same size as a standard light switch and looks like this:

Ideally a shield about 2 inches deep running across the top of the PIR, which returns down the side of the unit and tapers away quickly.

Google has failed me. OK I failed Google as I can't think of the right search term!

Any ideas where I might get such a thing??

Would a plastic tupperware container be any good. They come in all shapes and sizes can be easily cut as required and are waterproof.

You can get IP rated surface wall mount boxes with clear covers.

Lead and Tupperware are both excellent suggestions if I need to fabricate something - thanks both.

I'll have a Google with some of npuk's words...

It came the other day. Four parcels were thrown over the gate. One of which was super sodden, and heavy with water because of the rain. I was sure the contents would be ruined...

...lucky it was my waterproof light switch hood, hat thingy inside!! :thumb:
