The small area was about 9" round, but I also did a few other bits as well. Took an evening.

There you go RCK, pop around to DM and he'll get it done in an evening for you :D
 
DM what was the actual kit you used? All I have ever seen is kits for polishing acrylic/plastic headlamps and obviously they would be useless on glass.

Could be useful to have one sitting on the shelf for future use.
 
Thanks to you all. I actually think I'm going to wait and buy a new screen I think... I will try the car again when it comes back from its latest spell away from me (turning my money into ex-money).

Following your wisdom and comments, I'm not about to spend ages learning the ancient art of glass polishing only to find I'm artisan at best ...

I'll be avoiding the wisdom of those that predict an imminent accident that ruins the screen. That doesn't sound like cricket.
