Wipers only working on wash wipe

Hi
The wipers have stopped working on my w211.
If i press stalk in to activate wash wipe they work fine.
I have checked fuse 56 which is good.
Any ideas

Faulty stalk, quite common and not too expensive to replace

Thanks for the quick reply. Does the airbag angle sensor and cruise need star after fitting back.
Any precautions or is it straight forward remove and replace.

You must lock off the contact spiral (angle sensor) to prevent it from twisting, or it will be damaged. There is a small hole in the face to place a pin and stop it turning.

As long as you don't turn the IGN on with the air bag removed there will be no need for STAR. Keep the key out of the car..
