Worst Cars Of All Time Thread

Inspired by CLSMark disgust at the Range Rover Evoque I introduce the Worst Cars Of All Time thread!

Post pictures of cars you truly despise, be it their ability, appearance or modifications.

Vent that rage

Naturally, the first nomination is the Range Rover Evoque

Ssangyong Rhodius
AMC Pacer
New LR Discovery (looks like a Ssangyong)
Toyota Prius (all models thereof)
Ford Granada/Scorpio

All utterly hideous.

Mercedes original A class

****roen Xantia.

I can personally vouch for it. I had one. (Don't ask)

Yugo?

I remember a mate having one and bits were literally dropping off it all the time.

Great basic Diesel engine, but the magic carpet made feel sick, and everything broke

I knew we wouldn't have to wait long for that one.

"Oooh it was so bad it even had a square steering wheel". And ? Modern Audis have even stranger steering wheels and no one seems to mind.

Yes, the styling was odd for its time but it shared its mechanical underpinnings with its hugely successful 1100 / 1300 predecessor but suffered less from rust.

And whilst the build quality may have often (but not always) been questionable, it was actually no worse than contemporary Escorts / Vivas / Fiats / Renaults etc.. And whilst 1970s Japcrap may have been more reliable, many of their cars had dissolved within a few years in a way that the Allegro didn't.

Hardly the British car industry's finest hour but far, far better than its undeserved reputation.

Every Nissan Juke needs to be hunted down and burnt, completely erased from the history books.

I think that we are having two different conversation here.

Worst car mechanically/reliability/driving/safety etc... and worst image.

The Evoque is clearly not a bad car in any way but has a certain image issue for many people.

I knew we wouldn't have to wait long for that one.

But for almost none of the reasons you mention, except the last.

It had the potential to be a very good car indeed, otherwise ruined and consigned to a laughing stock by finest BL bodging and "that'll do" attitude.

If you drive this... aren't you basically saying something has gone very wrong in your life?

Austin Princess (in chocolate brown FFS)
FSO Polonez
Morris Ital
Yugo
Nissan Cherry.

The link being that they were all cars that my dad had when I was a kid. I guess he just wasn't a car kinda guy. I'll never forget embarrassment and shame of my childhood.

Oh, nearly forgot. He had a Vauxhall chivanne that broke down EVERY summer on our annual trip to Cornwall (from Manchester). He had seats put in the back. So,

Mum & dad in the front, my three sisters on the rear bench and me, (you guessed it) in the rear compartment with the bl00dy dog and dads tools. Don't think they liked me very much! :D
